We don’t compromise Examination Malpractices. –Principal , Bishop Delisle College.
The issue of examination malpractices , especially public Examinations have been a knotty problems bedeviling Education Sector in the country. Attempts by successive governments to redress the cankerworm often meet brick walls .
Many factors were allegedly responsible for the infractions, ranging from high fees charged for the registration, unqualified and ill motivated teachers to Government disdain to the revamping of the sector.
In this interview by Agubasun with the examination officer of the 49 years old Bishop Delisle College Lokoja, Mr. Ayeoribe Jayeola , unbehalf of the principal, Mrs Mary Boro noted that the discipline and commitment of the management and staff to the creed of founding fathers has made examination malpractices a stranger to the school.
This issue of examination malpractices have been worrisome to all the stakeholders in the Education Sector , what is your take on the issue.
In Bishop Delisle , every one is committed to his her roles. Right from the Principal to the Teachers and Students, the rules are written in black and white and it is incumbent for us to obey. Bishop Delisle is a faith Based institution which teaches morals. We are morally bound to strictly adhere to the mission and vision of the founding fathers.
We don’t condone malpractices in any guise . The Principal, Mrs Mary Bola Boro is a disciplinarian , she detest fraud and malpractices in any form.
Why will the students engage in malpractices. One , because of poor preparation by the students and poor delivery of teaching by the teachers. The school has been up and doing in enforcing disciplines .
From our finding , there is mass exodus of Students from the urban to the villages to register for public examinations, what is your take on this.
For us in Bishop Delisle all our students from SS2 enrolled in the school for their WASSCE and NECO. They were taught to have confidence in themselves. We have groomed them to withstand any examinations. Our previous Examination records is a testimony for the students. For last NECO results , we recorded over 90% pass rate. We are confident, based on the tutorials delivered to our students , that they will have no cause to require unsolicited assistance.
The school is wearing a new look, what is the secret behind the infrastructural Development
The Principal Mrs Mary Bola Boro has used her connections for the good of the school. She has been Committing the Internal generated revenue IGR for the advancement of the school. She has been sensitising the alumni of the school to see the need for partnership to uplift the school. We are glad that many of them jumped at the partnership and this is the result we are seeing . New Classrooms are being built and some buildings are being renovated and rehabilitated. We are grateful to her, as her tenure has raised the bar of leadership in the school.
