A chieftain of the All Progressive Congress in kogi state Dr. Toyin Akanle has described the violence visited on Kogi people in the last governorship election as below the acceptable standard and most unfortunate in the 21 st century.
Dr Akanle who was an aspirant in the last kogi west senatorial primary of the APC stated this over the weekend from the sidelines of his birthday anniversary celebration.
He maintained that he would rather not be a Senator, Governor or President if he has to swim or ride on the blood of innocent citizens to win elections.
Akanle also a former National Director of DSS explained that with his vast knowledge in curbing insurgency and other insecurity challenges, said truth will always prevail over lies.
He decried the trauma the hapless citizens of the state have to go through in the name of winning election which was uncalled for in a modern democracy.
According to him " light will always prevail over darkness, no matter the lies that was peddled about me in the past and light has certainly prevailed. I urge our people not to despair, that no matter how long lies last of which it does not last forever.
" We were all crying for the right things to be done and if they had heard us the monumental violence that was unleashed on the people in the last election wouldn’t have been worth it.
" However I have chosed to be silent, I have refused to join those dancing in the market square, but rather to remain with the people than ride on their blood.
", With my vast experience in life I have decided to maintain a dignified silence all the while before the election, after all with the situation at hand my silence has become golden in the Kogi state circumstances and I will not join the mad rush and crowd, to express satisfaction with what has transpired even as my maintained position has been vindicated.
" I stand to be corrected, there Was no election in Kogi on the November 16, 2019 and the prayers of the people now across the state is for God’s divine intervention in the affairs of the state " He lamented.
