Kogi agog as PMB controls 40yrs Erosion menace in Dekina Communities

The people of the  sleepy town of Dekina headquarters of Dekina Local government Council of Kogi  state were agog   for  the ongoing construction of channels and drainages  across major areas of the town  to fight erosion that has been devastating the area for nearly forty years.

The paramount ruler and chairman Dekina /Bassa Federal Constituency HRH Alhaji Usman Obaje , the Ejeh of Dekina while speaking to Journalists at the  construction sites in Dekina yesterday  commended president Muhammadu Buhari for the  control of the erosion in the area that has defied solutions for over four decades.

The paramount ruler who was represented by the Ohiegba of Mosun HRH  Alhaji  Bukar Khalid  Ibrahim  described  president Muhammadu Buhari’s administration to the majestic  walking style of the snake with the aim of getting to the destination at appropriate time, which he noted  has begun with the ongoing erosion control in Dekina.

He noted that the the former Minister of Labour , Employment and Productivity Professor Stephen Ocheni  had requested the President to commit Ecological fund office in the Presidency to help solve erosion menace ravaging five local government areas of kogi East , saying only Dekina LGA was finally approved to benefit  from the project.

The Royal Father said against every doubts,  the flag off and actual work on the sites commenced in earnest which has  brought relief to thousands of families who were victims of age long  suffering.

He added that although, the communities have suffered enough without successive governments paying attention to their plight said it is better late than never , giving kudos to the former Minister who could have sited the project in his local government area but chose Dekina to wipe away their tears.
He explained that Dekina which is assumed to be the largest Local government Area in Nigeria and indeed west Africa but lacked federal government presence , saying President Muhammadu Buhari was a God sent for the area to witness the control of the dreaded erosion that has reduced the town to a laughing stock even though  it has once had a son on the helm of affairs in the state.

Earlier, the Secretary of Dekina Development Association ( DDA)  Alhaji Sule Attai Yusuf commended , the president Buhari and professor Ocheni who conceived the idea and worked tirelessly to see that the project became a reality of which the entire Igala Kingdom are greatful for his short but successful tenure as a minister representing the zone and the state.

Alhaji Yusuf said every one involved in one or the other to making this multi million naira project that has saved tens of thousand households from the claws of erosion , which they could not sleep with their eyes closed during rain seasons deserves the glory of the ancestors and God Almighty.

The community leader howeve assured the government of the people’s commitment to preserve and maintain the project as  a sign of appreciation for the project even as he called on more people’s oriented projects to be sited in the area.

While pledging support of the people to the government of President,Muhammadu Buhari, kogi state government and the ruling APC appealed for another appointment for  the former Minister professor Ocheni to enable him to continue to discharge his love for his fatherland.

Meanwhile , one of the victims of the erosion menace in Dekina, Hajara Maiyanga said she could not believe in her eyes that in her time the erosion fury could be tame called on the people to support the government to deliver more dividend of democracy.
